Martinsville: Greg Biffle race quotes

April 1, 2007

GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 Jackson Hewitt Ford Fusion (Finished 32nd)

"The car was really, really good. It was the best Martinsville run we had until we lost the brakes. Unfortunately, those are important at Martinsville. It looks like there are about five cars that are having brake problems -- all AP brakes. The 1 lost his right-rear, 66 and us and the 70, and I know there are a couple more. It's just unfortunate. We all chose the same brake package and we're all having problems. We had our best run ever and I felt like I was doing a great job as a driver here at Martinsville to stay on the lead lap. We were running 13th or 14th, so I'm really happy with that. That's encouraging coming back here. Hopefully we make the chase and that would be encouraging coming back for the second time."

DO YOU THINK THE BRAKE ISSUE IS A COOLING ISSUE OR A DYNAMIC OF THE CAR OR SOMETHING ELSE? "I'm not sure what it is. We're gonna have to analyze it. Obviously, the brakes are hot. We've got all the cooling NASCAR allows us to the brakes currently, so we don't know what else we can do. We've got the maximum amount of hoses, the maximum amount of fans. We've got what we've got and it's not good enough, so we'll have to look at it. Maybe AP has an internal problem with the seals that are getting too hot and melting, so that's probably an issue."

HOW HAS THE NEW CAR BEEN AFTER TWO RACES? "I think our car is working very well. I'm pretty happy with the car. I think all of the teams and NASCAR have done a good job so far adapting to it. I think we've got a ways to go before we get to some of these bigger tracks. Richmond, Dover and Darlington will be a true tale of what we have on larger tracks, so, right now, I'd have to say we're doing fairly well with it."
